About AlisonAlison grew up in rural mid-Wales and relocated to Norfolk via Essex fourteen years ago when her husband’s job relocated. She has three children who attend local schools. After training as a nurse, Alison worked at Guy’s Hospital and Greenwich Hospitals in London, rising to the level of Ward Sister. She is now a trained Reflexologist. After being elected to South Norfolk District Council in 2007, Alison has served on the Scrutiny, Planning, Licensing and Appeals Committees. She is also Chairman of the Planning, Housing and Built Environment Overview Committee. She is a Board Member of Saffron Housing making sure that the tenants of 4,000 homes are fully represented. Alison works in partnership with the police on the local Safer Neighbourhood team addressing local neighbourhood and policing issues so that your quality of life in South Norfolk is maintained.
Alison became involved in the council following the long-standing campaign to build a Long Stratton bypass. She says “I feel that it is important that people are represented by someone who is willing to speak up on their behalf and give their full commitment to the responsibilities of representing the local community.” As I have three school-age children I am keen to get involved in education issues at the County Council. I am especially concerned about the recent announcement that funding for sixth form education may be reduced. I promise to support students who wish to further their education beyond age 16 by campaigning hard for adequate funding to continue. I am willing to work at the things that I know are important to local people, and to represent every single member of the public, regardless of their political views. |
