About Jon

“I believe that local people understand their own community’s opportunities and problems better than centralized bureaucracy. Local people should lead on such matters.”

Hello. I am Jonathan Herbert and I have lived here in Mulbarton for 17 years. I am passionate about this community just as you are. I also understand the issues that affect and can threaten this community and I want to make our lives better.

My professional career. as a Chartered Management Accountant has encompassed national and international business. I have worked with leading Norfolk firms Rowntree Mackintosh and Jewsons before becoming Chief Executive Officer of Norwich Union International. Let me work for you.

South Norfolk Council needs to become more efficient, more business like and I can implement this.

I have been married to Valerie for 21 years and she is Head Teacher of Eaton Hall School. Norwich’s Special Education Needs School for boys. I too am a school governor of the Hall School. a Special Education Needs school for children with severe learning difficulties. I see the problems facing our schools and I want to he able to effect change and raised standards.

I have always believed in the extended family supporting each other in good times and had. I understand the difficulties older members of our community face. Let me be their representative. I will get their interests straight to the heart of South Norfolk Council.
