Europe's Top Green, Robert Sturdy MEP, Chairman of the European Parliament's Environment Committee, paid a visit to South Norfolk yesterday to support the local Conservative campaign.

Robert is one of the Eastern Region's four Conservative MEPs and was keen to see for himself how the fragile Broads Ecosystem relates to South Norfolk as well as looking at housing development densities in rural villages.

He visited the Broads at Surlingham, Coldham Hall and Rockland. He said "The Broads ecosystem is unique in Europe and it's important to balance environmental protection with tourism and employment opportunities. It's important that the Broads is maintained so that future generations can enjoy it and I'm pleased that the boating industry is also evolving to respond to the demand for more environmentally friendly holidays that also support jobs in pubs and local boatyards."

He then visited Langley School and Poringland where he inspected the Norfolk Homes development and new community centre, which will shortly be finished.
